Hiroshi Toyofuku
Bizen clay is used with minimal kneading, shaped after removing only larger stones and impurities in order to preserve the clay’s natural, excavated state—a technique known as “shizen nerikomi” (natural kneading). After firing, the surface of each piece reveals layered textures inherent to the raw clay itself, resulting in an unadorned, natural expression.
Furthermore, the linear, sharply defined forms possess a distinctive presence that is instantly recognizable as the work of Toyofuku.
