Ayano HItotsumatsu
Hitotsumatsu’s teapot made of porcelain clay is formed on the pottery wheel one by one, and is characterized by its lean shape.
When you look inside, you will first notice the wide tea strainer.
This tea strainer allows the tea to be served without stress until the last drop, making it possible to create an elegant and smooth shape without the bulge around the spout.
Tea strainer is much more difficult to apply from inside the teapot than from outside.
To attach a tea strainer from outside, make a hole on the body and push in through the hole, but if you try to attach a large tea strainer, the area around the spout will inevitably become large.
By attaching a tea strainer from the inside, you can make the tea strainer larger while making the spout small, but if you try to attach such a wide-faced tea strainer from the inside, you have to bend the tea strainer once and open it again. As the difficulty level increases, the pieces that needs to be disposed are quite a few.
The pattern mainly uses the techniques of "washi(Japanese paper) some(dyeing)" and "spraying".
"Washi some" is a technique of cutting Japanese paper into a motif, pasting it on a piece, and impregnating it with pigment.
Hitotsumatsu divides motifs such as animals and insects into small parts that require the use of tweezers to create a detailed pattern, and expresses various colors by superimposing the colors of each part.
"Spraying" is to attach a tape to the work, spray the pigment on it, and when it dries, remove the tape and make the pattern stand out.
Born in 1983 in Higashiuracho, close to Tokoname City.
For two years from 2015, studied ceramics at Tokoname Ceramics Research Institute.
Originally she had no idea of making teapots, but learned how to make a teapot as part of her training and realized how fun it is.
"Because I make teapots in Tokoname, I am not only particular about the outside pattern, but also serious about creating the teapot itself. It is interesting because teapot is difficult. I think I can keep challenging it for the rest of my life."
